Attorney Richard Ianello was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. Following graduation from law school he prepared for and took the Massachusetts Bar Exam in July of 1974. He was officially admitted to practice law in Massachusetts after being sworn in by the Supreme Judicial Court on December 12, 1974.
Attorney Ianello spent his first ten years under the tutelage of several top civil and criminal lawyers and law firms in the areas of civil litigation and criminal defense. His training consisted of trial preparation, trial techniques, trial strategy, jury waived trials, and jury trials in the District and Superior Court departments of the trial court. Attorney Ianello has tried over 500 civil and criminal trials, both jury and jury waived, in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and Connecticut. His innovative and aggressive trial techniques have helped his clients, from all walks of life, successfully pursue and defend their legal claims. In addition, Attorney Ianello has handled several appeals and has appeared before the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
In 1985, Attorney Ianello opened his own office as a sole practitioner in Springfield. He represented the general public consisting mostly of blue-collar workers and union members who needed a lawyer who could help in a time of need. He represented those injured in motor vehicle collisions, motorcycle collisions, workers compensation injuries, motor vehicle offenses, construction accidents (crane collapse) and injuries, medical and dental malpractice, nursing home negligence, gas and fire explosions (house explosion from a gas leak and factory explosion from a flammable product), injuries caused by a defective product (snow blowers, power saws), injuries caused by the negligent use of a firearm, and injuries caused by negligent liquor establishments.
In 2004, Attorney Ianello established a new law in Massachusetts whereby an operator of a motor vehicle who “waves” or “signals” a pedestrian to “cross” into the path of another vehicle can be held liable for all resulting injuries and damages.
In 2005, Attorney Ianello expanded his practice and formed Ianello Legal Associates to offer expanded services in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense. He expanded his work load by hiring an associate attorney, Mark Brittain. He also doubled his office space and relocated to 55 State Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, directly across the street from the Hall of Justice. He has installed the latest technology in telephone and dictation equipment and computer hardware and case management software to efficiently deliver cost-effective and prompt legal services to his clients.
In 2006, Attorney Ianello opened a satellite office in Chicopee. He feels strongly that the best legal services should be available to those who reside outside of the Springfield metropolitan area. These new offices make it convenient and easy to obtain legal services in the surrounding communities.
Attorney Ianello is also the author of many legal brochures prepared for clients on a wide variety of legal subjects. These brochures provide an overview which is written in “plain English” for the purpose of educating the public in those areas of interest or concern.
In the event of a conflict of interest, or if a client consults with Attorney Ianello for a legal problem outside of his areas of expertise that he feels may be handled more efficiently by another lawyer, Attorney Ianello has many associates to whom he can refer such cases.
Attorney Ianello believes that his success is directly related to his attention to detail. He believes that thorough preparation and a complete understanding of the law is absolutely essential in successfully representing clients, no matter how big or small their legal matter. Ianello Legal Associates is dedicated to providing affordable legal services to those in need with convenient and easily accessible office locations with free parking. Most importantly, all consultations, whether by phone or in person, are always free.
